Blessed Father's Day - A Tribute

A young Indian is taken into the forest by his father.
He is blindfolded and left alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove
the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.
He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survived the night, he is a man.
The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises.
Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm.
The wind blew through the grass, the earth shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never
removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man!

Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold.
It was then he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.

He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

We, too, are never alone.

Even when we don't know it, Our Heavenly Father is watching over us, sitting beside us.

Just because you can't see God, doesn't mean He is not there.

The Little Things In Life

So many times it is the little things that drive us crazy. Big problems we can handle, but the minor inconveniences of day-to-day life & activities can get under our skin! It's easy to get angry or frustrated when things go wrong or faced with unforeseen circumstances; flight canceled or delayed, when we lose our car keys or hit every red light on the way to a important meeting of the month.
But sometimes, God uses the little things of our lives to place us right where He wants us to be.

After the 911 tragedy, the head of security of the Twin Towers related amazing stories about those who should have been there that fateful day - but weren't. All of their stories had to do with the "little things" of life.

One man was late because it was his turn to bring the doughnuts. One woman's alarm clock didn't go off. One missed the bus. One spilled food on her clothes during early breakfast & decided to take time to change. Another's car wouldn't start. And one person couldn't catch a cab to work that very day.

Perhaps the most amazing was the man who put on a new pair of Hush Puppies shoes that morning & headed in to work, only to develop a blister on his foot on the way. Because he stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid for his foot, he is alive today.

God is concerned about every detail of your life - even the little things! So the next time you get stuck in a traffic jam or even get a blister on your toe - remember that God continues to look out for you. Be thankful everyday for the gift of life you have been given & for the wonderful, loving God who cares for you & guides your steps throughout the day.
